Child Care Consultation

Child Care Consultation (also known as Day Care Plus) provides consultation services and technical assistance to child care providers in Cuyahoga County and support for families with children experiencing difficulties in the child care setting. Working with staff, families and all agencies involved, consultants develop a seamless and effective child care experience for children ages birth through six who are experiencing social, emotional and behavioral difficulties in a group setting. The ultimate goal is to maintain children successfully in their child care placements.

This service has three primary objectives:

  • To improve the social, behavioral and emotional functioning of at-risk children in child care;
  • To increase the competencies of parents and caregivers of at-risk children in child care; and
  • To increase the competencies of childcare staff. .

How the Service Works
Child Care Consultation provides multiple services to child care centers and family child care homes including:

  • Observation and intervention services to preschool children in child care settings;
  • Training sessions for child care staff in a variety of areas such as social/emotional, developmental, stress management, and infant toddler services;
  • Training and interventions for parents in a variety of areas around the care of young children; and
  • Provide referrals and collaborate with other agencies as needed.

Child Care Consultation is funded by Cuyahoga County’s Invest in Children through Starting Point for Child Care and Early Education.

Accessing Services
Services are available during regular business hours as well as on evenings and Saturdays.
