Integrated Special Education & Mental Health Services
Through integrated special education and mental health services, Positive Education Program (PEP) is able to provide individualized care to children and youth experiencing emotional disturbances and demonstrating severe and challenging behaviors. PEP’s dedicated professionals are experts in creating and utilizing programming that addresses both the social emotional and academic learning needs of PEP’s special population. Using a strength-based model of care, PEP serves children and youth of all ages, from pre-kindergarten through early adulthood.
The primary objective of PEP’s integrated special education and mental health services is to enable children and youth to succeed in the least restrictive environment, ideally his or her own school district. In collaboration with families and schools, PEP helps young people develop skills necessary for success in school and in life. PEP operates several programs to help school districts meet the needs of their most challenging students.
- PEP operates seven Day Treatment Centers (DTCs) that serve as both the school and the therapeutic treatment center for children and youth with severe emotional disturbances. PEP's DTCs are located throughout Northern Ohio and have the ability to serve children with multiple disabilities.
- PEP Assist, PEP’s consultation and training arm, provides schools and programs with best practices for working with at-risk and special needs children. Services are individually tailored to meet the unique needs of each district.
