John P. Sesek
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer of Positive Education Program (PEP), John P. Sesek is responsible for the oversight of the agency’s budget of over $40 million. Mr. Sesek oversees the agency’s financial analysis and forecasting, as well as administrative financial responsibilities.
During his tenure, PEP has managed steady financial growth because of Mr. Sesek’s knowledge and expertise. Under his careful stewardship, PEP has expanded its two largest sources of revenue, education fees and Medicaid reimbursements, and maximized revenue from other sources wherever possible. Mr. Sesek also led the process to secure bonds to support the purchase and renovation of two buildings.
Prior to PEP, Mr. Sesek worked in financial management at several local non-profit organizations including EDEN, Inc., Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, and Cuyahoga County Addiction Recovery Services Board. Before that he worked in accounting at a Chicago-based hospital, as a business manager for Chicago’s Howard Area Community Center, and as an administrator for a legal aid program for mental health consumers in San Jose, California.
In 2009 Mr. Sesek was recognized as a Crain’s Cleveland Business CFO of the Year for his leadership and strategic stewardship of PEP’s financial assets.
Mr. Sesek holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Columbia University. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco, as well as continuing education credits in accounting at Northwestern University and Cleveland State University. An avid cyclist, Mr. Sesek is passionate about the environment and frequently bikes to work. He has great affection for Northeast Ohio and appreciation for its rich urban history and ethnic diversity.
