2024 PEP Prentiss Super Bowl a Success, Continues to Delight
On Thursday Oct. 24, Cuyahoga Heights Schools hosted the 2024 PEP Prentiss Super Bowl to the delight of students, staff and their families. The event, which occurs each October, is an opportunity for PEP Prentiss students to participate in a football game with one another in a football stadium, complete with a referee, announcer and a cheering crowd filled with family and friends. PEP Prentiss Autism Center supports young people age 5-22 with autism and other complex developmental disabilities. For many of them, the PEP Prentiss Super Bowl is the first time they have had the chance to participate in a group sport.
PEP has enjoyed a long partnership with Cuyahoga Heights Schools, who has hosted the game for eight years. Often their band and cheerleaders enhance the game-day atmosphere by participating on the sidelines like they would for their own football team. Former Superintendent Tom Evans, who helped start the tradition, says students from Cuyahoga Heights Schools also enjoy the game. They come out to support the PEP Prentiss students during their lunch break and enthusiastically cheer for every small success. Cuyahoga Heights Schools new superintendent, Matt Young, is delighted to continue the tradition.
PEP would like to thank Cuyahoga Heights Schools for hosting the 2024 PEP Prentiss Super Bowl and graciously welcoming our students to their facilities. We would also like to acknowledge appreciation for the Cuyahoga Heights Schools students who wholeheartedly cheered on our students. It made the day extra special.
